Not to insult anyone's intelligence, but I feel it's important to include this. In case you're not familiar with the above terminology, the operating system (OS) is the software that bridges the gap between your hardware, your software, and you (the user.) Operating systems vary from Windows 95 and Windows NT (the most common on PCs), MacOS (for the Macintosh, latest release is Mac OS 8), to other operating systems such as Windows 3.1, OS/2, Unix, Linux, and any number of other operating systems. Image maps are navigational tools that seperate images into different sections that contain links to other pages in this web site. The image map used in The Lair of the Dark Knight is the Batsymbol logo with "Pics/History/Comics/Movies/BTAS/Miller/Other." Browsers are World Wide Web navigational tools; the most common are Netscape Navigator (up to version 4) and Microsoft Internet Explorer (also up to version 4). Monitor resolution is the viewing size of your monitor (or how many pixels, or dots can be displayed on the screen). Common resolutions are 640x480 (640 pixels wide by 480 pixels wide), 800x600 and 1,024x768. The optimal resolution for The Lair of the Dark Knight is 800x600, but has been optimized to work on all resolutions equal to or greater than 640x480. Color depth is the limitation of how many colors can be displayed on your screen at a time. Color depths are described in bits: the most common are 8 bit (256 colors), 16 bit (65,536 colors), and 24 bit (16,777,216 colors). This site has been optimized for 16 bit color depth or higher, and lower color depths will probably result in a less than desirable (read: crappy) web-viewing experience, at least for this site. 16 bit color depth is quickly becoming the web standard, and that is why I have adopted it.
